Draft AS 3633:2026

Residential and public pools — water quality. The draft is the first Australian Standard to bring public pools into scope. Public comment closed on 21 October 2026.

Why it matters

Today every state writes its own pool rules; a consultant working across NSW, Queensland and Victoria reconciles three documents. A national standard gives specifiers one reference, and gives validated UV and logged free-chlorine control a place in the national language rather than a state guideline.

What we said

AquaX lodged five comments on 16 October 2026, all on the plant-room side: that secondary disinfection should be validated by a third party and sized for full flow; that control should rest on measured free chlorine; that records should be defined in a way an operator can actually keep; that combined chlorine deserves its own limit; and that the standard should say what a validation certificate must show.

What happens next

Standards Australia reviews comments and publishes a final text, typically within twelve months. We will update this page when the standard is published.
