What changed for centres
- UV "should be validated and designed for full flow (not side stream)", positioned before any chlorine or bromine dosing point — Guidelines §4.2.2.1.
- Control is on measured free chlorine; the old 720 mV ORP test is gone — Regulation 2022, Schedule 1.
- Records kept at least six months, logs downloaded monthly, probes calibrated — Sch 1 cl 11, Guidelines §3.1.2.4 and §6.1.2.
Where it usually starts
A plant-room review: what is installed, what the controller measures, what the log shows. Most centres we hear from have a controller older than the 2022 Regulation and a UV unit sized for a side stream. Both are fixable inside a normal renewal budget — and both sit below the council tender threshold.
Timing
Council capital lists for the next financial year are drafted between February and April. A costed scope for the plant room is most useful to a facilities manager in that window.
We do not design plant rooms. We review, help your consultant write the performance clauses, supply through your contractor, and keep the log.
